Snowmobiling
Pennsylvania's State Forests offer thousands of miles and hundreds of acres of designated snowmobile areas for exploration. Opportunities range from scenic trails through the woods, to straightaway runs on roadways, to large, open spaces.
Tussey Mountain is an ideal place to spend a day with the family. There is something for everyone here, during the winter months, activities include skiing, snowboarding and tubing and a driving range, mini golf and go karts in the warmer months!
Wildfire Ranch is proud to be one of the few remaining stables in all of Pennsylvania offering public guided trail rides. Our horses are a wonderful mix of Tennessee Walkers, Missouri Fox Trotters and Rocky Mountain saddle horses, along with Arabian, Quarterhorse paint, Morgan/Standardbred and even a stunning Friesian.
Rothrock State Forest is named for Dr. Joseph Trimble Rothrock, a native of Mifflin County and the commonwealth’s first forestry commissioner. He is recognized as the “Father of Forestry” in Pennsylvania. Rothrock State Forest comprises 96,975 acres that spread across the rugged ridges of:

Penn-Roosevelt is a good base for those seeking low-density recreation on this vast expanse of public land. Popular activities include: hiking on the Mid-State or other State Forest trails, gravel-riding on over 100 miles of Forestry roads, and mountain biking the nearby Cooper’s Gap area, a destination Pennsylvania mountain biking trail system.
